Uploading Political Ads

Political advertisements must include the DAA Political Icon and additional details about the political advertiser. When you upload a creative, select the Sensitive Categories > Political (Elections) brand category to mark it as a political ad. This adds the DAA Political Icon to the creative and enables the required fields for political advertisements. For more information about political ads, see Political Campaigns.

  1. On the My Ads screen, click New Ad and select the type of ad that you want to create. You can add political advertising details to all ad types:

  2. Enter the required ad details. Under Brand Categories, you must select Sensitive Categories > Political (Elections) to mark this creative as political. When you select this category, additional fields appear in the ad upload window.

    Note: If the ad is for a politically related issue that does not fall under the DAA Self-Regulatory Principles for Political Advertising or state legislation related to political advertising, use Sensitive Categories > Political Issues (Non-Election) (for example, "get-out-the-vote" campaigns, advocacy regarding legislation). These types of ads do not require additional political advertising details.

    1. Enter the name of the political advertiser.
    2. Provide all necessary contact info, such as a phone number, address, website, or any other means of contact.
    3. Enter any other information that federal or state law requires in a disclaimer notice for political ads.
  3. Fill out the other fields required for the creative and click Create Ad to save your ad.

You can now link your ads to campaigns. In the ad preview window, you can click the DAA Political Ad icon to view the disclosure notice webpage.
