Mobile App Retargeting

A mobile retargeting campaign uses device IDs to capture and follow users for retargeting.

There are two ways to add device IDs to your audiences:

  1. Capture device IDs using Audience Capture
  2. Upload device IDs manually

Before you set up a mobile retargeting campaign, you must first create an audience.

Capturing Device IDs Using Audience Capture

You can build a list of device IDs using our Audience Capture tool and running prospecting in the mobile app environment. To do this, set up your mobile campaign (e.g. App Campaign or Hyperlocal Campaign) or advanced campaign.

In the General tab, click Audience Capture and select whether you want to capture clicks, conversions, or both. Then, select the audience that you want to add users to. You can also create a new audience using the Create new Audience button.

Uploading Device IDs Manually

Note: Contact your customer success team if you might exceed either of these limits:
  • 100 sets of IDs per day
  • 10k/hour

You can upload a comma- or line-separated list of IDFA/Android IDs to manually add device IDs to your audience. The list should be a TXT or CSV file with a maximum size of 500 MB.

In the My Audiences view, click on the Actions button next to your audience and select Upload Device IDs.

The IDs in the file are added to your audience, usually within 24 hours.

Targeting Your Audience in a Mobile Retargeting Campaign

Once you have your audience(s), you're ready to set up your mobile retargeting campaign. To do this, click New Campaign and select Mobile Retargeting Campaign from the Mobile menu.

In the Audiences tab, select your desired audience and click Target. By default, users will be targeted 0 days after they visit the page where your retargeting pixel is placed. In other words, they will be targeted immediately.
