Deal Validation

When you create a campaign that uses PMP deals, Basis DSP checks many details to be sure the campaign is compatible with the deal you've selected.

If your campaign is not compatible with the deal, you see an error message:

Follow the link on the error message, and you see the Deals section of the General tab. Hover your mouse over the alert icon in the Status column to see a list of errors.

Errors

CPM bid is lower than the deal's floor price.

What it means: If your campaign's default CPM price doesn't meet the deal's floor price, your campaign will never deliver.

How to fix it: Adjust your default CPM bid.

  1. Open the deal's Details and note the Price and Price Type.

  2. Adjust your campaign's bid price. In the Budget section of the General tab, set a new Default CPM Bid.
    • For fixed price deals, set the Default CPM Bid to the deal price.
    • For private auctions, set the Default CPM Bid to a value higher than the deal price.

The campaign inventory source must target the deal's exchange.

What it means: Deals are special arrangements with a particular exchange. They cannot be applied to other exchanges.

How to fix it: Update your campaign to run on the deal's exchange.

  1. Open the deal's Details and note the Exchange.

  2. Update the campaign inventory. On the Inventory tab, select and add sites on the deal's exchange.

At least one creative must match the dimensions in deal.

What it means: Some deals are only available for particular ad sizes

How to fix it: Select a properly-sized ad for the campaign.

  1. Open the deal's Details, scroll to the lower half of the screen, and note the Ad Size(s).
  2. Attach an ad that matches one of the valid ad sizes. See Linking Campaigns to Ads.

At least one creative must match the deal's advertiser domains.

What it means: Some deals are only available for particular advertiser domains. Ads that have passed Ad Quality Control are associated with an advertiser domain, often (but not always) the domain of the landing page URL.

How to fix it: Select an ad that meant for an advertiser on the deal's list.

  1. Open the deal's Details, scroll to the lower half of the screen, and note the Advertiser Domains.
  2. Attach an ad that advertises a valid domain. See Linking Campaigns to Ads.

This error will not appear if a deal specifically blocks an advertiser domain and the campaign links to an ad with that blocked advertiser domain. In this case, the ad will not deliver.

The campaign dates are outside the deal dates.
