Uploading Videos

Video File Requirements

See Ad Specifications for supported ad sizes and file types and Video Ads on Premium Connected TV Inventory for important details about formatting videos for CTV.

Note: Video files must include audio. If your video file does not have any audio, you will not be able to upload it.

If you're uploading video files, you only need to upload a single copy for each video. Upload a high-quality version, and the system automatically creates copies for different video codecs, dimensions, and bitrate so that the ad can be served successfully in all cases.

Just upload the best-quality version you have (that meets the requirements in our ad specifications):

The DSP generates the different versions needed to play in different environments (like smaller file sizes for mobile ads).

Uploading a Video File

To upload your video ad, select a brand. In the My Ads screen, click New Ad > Video Ad.

In the General tab, complete these fields:

  • Name: Give the ad a descriptive name.

  • Upload Video: Select the video file that you want to use for the creative. Make sure that it adheres to our ad specifications.

  • Destination URL: Indicate the landing page to which the ad will click through. This URL often points to an intermediate tracking server, which in turn sends the user to the landing page.

  • Image Impression Tracking URL (Optional): If you are using a third-party impression tracker, enter the image tracking URL to track impressions for the ad. If you have more than one, click Add another image impression tracking URL. You can add up to three image trackers.

  • SSL Status: If the ad is ATS compliant, select Ad is safe to serve to secure inventory.

  • Brand Domain: If the default domain does not apply to the ad, edit it now. You cannot edit the brand domain after you create the ad. The domain should not include a protocol (https://) or landing page.
  • Brand Categories: If the default categories do not apply to the ad, edit them now. You cannot change these categories after you create the ad. See Brand Domains and Categories for details.

In the Event Tracking URLs tab, enter any tracking URLs that you want to use. Tracking URLs are called when a particular event happens. For example, the creative calls the Audio/Video Start URL when an audio file starts playing and calls the First Quartile URL when 25% of the video or audio file has played.

  3. Select an event type from the dropdown menu:
    • Click Tracking: Calls the URL when the ad is clicked.
    • Audio/Video Start: Calls the URL when the video starts to play.
    • First Quartile: Calls the URL when the video is 25% complete.
    • Second Quartile: Calls the URL when the video is 50% complete.
    • Third Quartile: Calls the URL when the video is 75% complete.
    • Completion: Calls the URL when the video is 100% complete.
  4. To remove a tracking URL, click the delete button (X).

In the Companion Ad tab, upload a companion ad if you have one. A companion ad is an image that should be served with the video ad. The image usually runs next to the video player, giving sponsors more visibility throughout the playback.
