Using Whitelists and Blacklists

When you set up a campaign and step through the Select Inventory screens, you can select specific domains and apps to target, either through the campaign's domain scope or by choosing a domain list.

On the Domains & Apps tab, you set the Domain Scope for the campaign. This scope works with any selected domain list to decide what inventory to purchase.

  • If you choose All domains & apps and then select a domain list, the campaign will only purchase or block impressions in the domain list.

  • If you choose Select domains & apps and then select a domain list, the campaign will only purchase inventory that is selected in the Domains & Apps tab AND a chosen whitelist. If you choose a blacklist on the Domain List tab, the campaign will block all domains listed in the domain list, even if they were selected on the Domains & Apps tab.

Here are basic guidelines when setting up whitelists:
  • For maximum scale:
    • Exchange Scope: Target All exchanges
    • Domain Scope: Target All domains & apps
    • Domain List: Select your whitelist.
  • For preferred targeting:
    • Exchange Scope: Target Select exchanges.
    • Domain Scope: Target All domains & apps.
    • Domain List: Select your whitelist.
